Thales: contract for new satellite with KT SAT
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), today announced that it has signed a contract with KT SAT, South Korea's leading satellite communications operator, to build the Koreasat 6A telecommunications satellite.
Positioned at 116° East in geostationary orbit, the new satellite will replace the existing Koreasat 6 and provide fixed and broadcast satellite services to South Korea. The satellite will be delivered in Q4 2024 and is designed to have a 15-year lifetime.
Thales Alenia Space will design, manufacture, test and deliver the satellite to the ground, and then carry out in-orbit testing and commissioning. In addition, Thales Alenia Space will provide training and support to the customer's engineers, as well as operational assistance during the satellite's life.
