Thales: successfully launches 17th satellite this year
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales announced on Wednesday that the geostationary telecommunications satellite, Inmarsat GX5, has just been successfully launched by Arianespace, aboard the Ariane 5 launcher, from the Kourou Space Center (French Guiana).
"Built for Inmarsat, the world leader in global, mobile satellite communications, by prime contractor Thales Alenia Space... this satellite will boost Inmarsat's Global Xpress (GX) broadband network," Thales said.
Inmarsat GX5 is the 17th telecommunications satellite, designed by Thales Alenia Space, to have been successfully launched this year.
