Thales: wins laser beam transport contract
(CercleFinance.com) - Thales Group today announces that it has won a contract for the transport of a High Power Laser System (HPLS) beam for 19.
8 million euros.
Thales is accompanying the Romanian Institute of nuclear physics (IFIN-HH), which will benefit from a 2x10 PetaWatt (i.e. 20 million billion Watt) laser, which exceeds power that is currently available. This laser will boost research in nuclear physics to better understand the physics of materials, the group said in a statement.
Thales will carry out this task in partnership with the companies SEIV and Alsyom, which is located in New Aquitaine, and subsidiaries of Alcen group.
