Michelin: aims at 100% recycled tyres by 2048
(CercleFinance.com) - The Michelin group today announced the start of a plan to ensure that by 2048 its tyres will be manufactured using 80% of sustainable materials, and that 100% of these tyres will be recycled.
This ambitious aim of sustainable development involves research programs on bio-sourced materials such as Biobutterfly, working with expert partners surrounding Michelin, and high-tech materials developed within these partnerships, Michelin explained.
The current global rate of tyre recovery is 70%, while the global recycling rate is 50%.
