Danone: strengthens partnership with Yakult
(CercleFinance.com) - Danone has announced the signing of an amended memorandum of understanding with the Japanese brand Yakult Honsha, confirming their commitment to pursue a long-term strategic partnership and to promote probiotics as part of a balanced diet.
Both companies will strengthen their joint efforts through the Global Probiotics Council and will explore the feasibility of new business collaboration projects, such as the distribution of Yakult products by Danone in European markets, starting with Spain.
Danone has also announced its intention to sell part of its stake in Yakult, reducing it from 21.29% to around 7% of the capital. Alongside this, Yakult has announced a 36 billion yen (c. 270 million euros) share buyback program, in which Danone will participate.
