TotalEnergies: commissions Seagreen wind farm
(CercleFinance.com) - TotalEnergies and its partner SSE Renewables announce that their Seagreen offshore wind farm is now fully operational at its rated capacity of 1075 MW.
Seagreen is a joint venture between TotalEnergies (51%) and SSE Renewables (49%).
Found around 27 km off the Angus coast, this is TotalEnergies' largest offshore wind farm in operation. It was completed in 3 years for a total investment of around $4bn, in line with expected capex.
With TotalEnergies' support, development and construction were carried out by SSE, which will now operate the wind farm for its entire lifespan, estimated at 25 years.
The 1075 MW offshore wind farm will be able to generate around 5 terawatt-hours (TWh) of renewable electricity, enough to power around 1.6 million homes a year - i.e. 2/3 of Scottish households.
