TotalEnergies: update on Mozambique LNG case

(CercleFinance.com) - Following a complaint against TotalEnergies for manslaughter and failure to provide assistance to a person in danger relating to the terrorist attacks in Mozambique on 24 March 2021, the company has stated that it firmly rejects these accusations.

It also mentions the emergency assistance provided by Mozambique LNG teams for the evacuation of people.

From the outset of the attacks, Mozambique LNG provided assistance to the authorities, including fuel for the aircraft used in evacuation and rescue operations, TotalEnergies adds.

According to TotalEnergies, over 2,500 people (Mozambique LNG employees, subcontractors and civilians fleeing the area) were evacuated from the Afungi site by sea using a ferry mobilised by Mozambique LNG, and by air (plane and helicopter).

Since then, Mozambique LNG has kept a constant watch on the security situation. The decision to restart the project is subject to the condition of being able to complete the project under safe conditions.

On-site activities are currently limited to reinforcing security infrastructures and improving access roads.
