TotalEnergies: delivers a Saft BESS to Microsoft
(CercleFinance.com) - Saft, TotalEnergies' battery subsidiary, announces that it has delivered a battery energy storage system (BESS) to replace backup diesel generators at Microsoft's sustainable data center in Sweden.
As the result of the collaboration announced between TotalEnergies and Microsoft in March 2021, the system was commissioned in June 2023 after a 16-month deployment period, and is a key step in Microsoft's transition to diesel-free data centers by 2030.
In addition to replacing the diesel generator, BESS enhances grid stability and provides autonomous start-up capability that guarantees rapid recovery of the power grid in the event of a failure, Saft says.
