Total: bio-refinery authorised in La Mède
(CercleFinance.com) - Total announces that it has received the authorisation order to operate its future bio-refinery of La Mède, which has an annual processing capacity of 650,000 tonnes, a key step in the site's transformation project, which is scheduled to start in the summer of 2018.
La Mède is authorised to use up to 450,000 tonnes of crude vegetable oil as part of its supply, with the energy group committed to limiting the supply of crude palm oil to a maximum of 300,000 tonnes per year.
This commitment has been enabled thanks to the efforts made to develop and promote the use of products from the circular economy, and particularly the recycling of animal fats, which can represent at least 100,000 tonnes per year.
