Total: exploration permit won in Guyana
(CercleFinance.com) - Total has announced it has signed agreements to acquire stakes in two exploration licenses off the coast of Guyana; the Canje and Kanuku blocks.
In addition, Total has filed a purchase option on the Orinduik block, located nearby.
Subject to approval from the competent authorities, the French oil and gas company will therefore have an exploration area of nearly 12,000 square kilometres in the prolific basin of Guyana, where it is entering.
Buying stakes in these high-potential permits is in line with the new exploration strategy that has been implemented from 2015, says Arnaud Breuillac, head of exploration and production at Total.
