Total: discovery in Gulf of Mexico
(CercleFinance.com) - Total has announced a major discovery with the Ballymore exploration well, located in deep water in the eastern part of the American Gulf of Mexico, drilled to a final depth of 8,898 metres.
This well crossed a 205-metre net oil column in a high-quality Norphlet tank. Total acquired a 40% stake in Ballymore in September 2017 as part of an exploration agreement with Chevron (60%, operator).
“Ballymore is the largest discovery by Total in the prolific Gulf of Mexico and bolsters our new exploration strategy put in place since 2015,” commented Kevin McLachlan, Senior Vice President Exploration at Total.
