Nokia: wins contracts with Toyota and Ireland
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announced on Tuesday that it has been selected by Toyota to deploy an industrial wireless network at a design and manufacturing center in Fukuoka, Japan.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Finnish OEM will install a private LTE/4.9G network that will enable scanning and Internet of Things (IoT) applications that can be upgraded with 5G technologies.
The system could then be extended to all Toyota's plants.
Nokia also says that it has been selected by the National Broadband Ireland (NBI) consortium to supply all Fiber to the Home (FTTH) equipment as part of a project to bridge the digital divide in rural Ireland.
The project will connect 44,000 businesses, over 54,000 farms and 695 schools.
