Nokia: to lead consortium for 5G platform.
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia Bell Labs, the industrial research arm of Nokia, said on Wednesday that it will lead a consortium to develop a 5G platform "as-a-service.

The project will include industry vendors, operators, IT companies, small and medium-sized enterprises and European academic institutions to build over the next 24 months the next generation platform for the 5G era.
Such a platform does not exist today, Nokia said.
The consortium is part of the 5G infrastructure public-private partnership (5G-PPP), launched in 2014 as an initiative between the European Union and telecom partners.
The consortium features 12 groups, including Atos, BT and Orange.
