Santander: all targets delivered in 2017, bank says

(CercleFinance.com) - Santander said attributable profit for 2017 was up 7% at 6.
6 billion euros, as Spain's economic momentum continues to gain pace.

The Spanish bank said that total income for the year increased by 10% to 48.4 billion euros, which sent the shares up 0.7% in Madrid this morning.

"We have delivered all our targets for 2017," group executive chair Ana Botin said.

Looking ahead, Santander said it sees significant opportunities for further organic growth within its 133 million customer base.

"2017 results have easily beaten expectations," said analysts at Bankinter, reiterating their "buy" rating on the stock with a target price of 6.9 euros.

According to figures issued by the statistics office Ine yesterday, Spain's economy grew by 3.1% in 2017.
