Novo Nordisk: to launch first connected insulin pen in 2019
(CercleFinance.com) - Novo Nordisk plans to launch its first connected insulin pens in early 2019, the Danish drugmaker said on Monday.
To support the future integration of its pens with other digital health solutions, Novo Nordisk has signed new partnership agreements with groups like Dexcom, Glooko and Roche, the company added.
The launch of Novo Nordisk's NovoPen 6 and NovoPen Echo Plus, will begin in the first quarter of 2019 and roll out to over 50 countries in the coming years, the company said.
Novo also announced on Monday the establishment of a manufacturing site in Fremont, California, US to develop and produce stem cell-based therapies.
Once operational in 2019, the facility, previously operated by Asterias Biotherapeutics, will supply stem cell-based therapies for Novo Nordisk's clinical trial programs.
