P. Moeller-Maersk has just completed an historical transaction, with the group announcing on Wednesday the sale of its tanker business to APMH Invest A/S, its controlling shareholder.
The latter will pay 1.17 billion dollars for this business, which was launched in 1928 and which currently employs 3,100 people.
The deal is part of the group's plan to split its transport and energy activities. It also occurs one month after Total's acquisition of all the capital of the exploration and production company Maersk Oil, a 100%-subsidiary of AP Møller-Mærsk, for 7.45 billion dollars, in a transaction financed by shares and debt.
