ON will centralize functions at its sales site in Munich after the takeover of innogy, a move that will impact jobs in Essen and Dortmund, the German utility group said on Friday.
While the details of these plans are still being discussed, the energy group said that "important functions" at its German power and gas business in Munich will be centralised.
E.ON said the impact on employees should be kept "to a minimum," although the company expects this to have an impact on jobs in Essen and Dortmund in the short and medium term, it added.
Essen - the energy capital of Germany - will continue to be the central location of the new E.ON in Germany and will remain the group's headquarters, with all national and international network control functions, it said.
Dortmund will also remain one of the largest locations of the new E.ON in Germany, it said.
