ON has announced the death of its former CEO Wulf Bernotat following a long illness. He led the German energy group from May 2003 to 2010, succeeding Ulrich Hartmann and Wilhelm Simson as CEO.
After a consolidation phase following the merger of VEBA and VIAG to form E.ON, Wulf Bernotat led the group's international development by setting up the group in the UK, Romania, Hungary, The Czech Republic, Slovakia and Italy.
One of his key accomplishments was his personal commitment to developing what was still a young renewable energy business in Europe and North America, said current CEO Johannes Teyssen.
