Volkswagen: EV sales up 45% over 9 months
(CercleFinance.com) - The Volkswagen Group has announced that it delivered 531,500 electric vehicles worldwide in the first nine months of 2023, up 45% y-o-y.
Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) now represent 7.9% of total sales, compared with 6.1% a year earlier.
In Q3 alone, the BEV share climbed to 9%, up from 6.8% a year ago.
Between January and September, Europe remained the main growth driver, with a 61% increase in EV sales to 341,100 vehicles. BEV deliveries jumped 74% to 50,300 units in the US, and exceeded the previous year's levels in China, with a 4% increase to 117,100 units.
Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered 273,000 100% electric vehicles at end-September, representing just over half of all Group BEVs.
