Siemens: new sleeping cars with ÖBB
(CercleFinance.com) - ÖBB and Siemens Mobility have unveiled the new generation of Nightjet sleeping cars and sleeper cars at the Siemens Mobility plant in Vienna.
By the end of 2025, a total of 33 new generation ÖBB Nightjets will be on the rails, connecting European cities by night at speeds of up to 230 kilometres per hour in a climate-friendly manner. The first trains are expected to be operational in late summer 2023 on the popular routes between Austria and Germany and Italy.
When people travel by night train, they contribute to reducing CO2 emissions: travelling with the Nightjet is about 50 times more climate-friendly than flying.
The interior of the next generation of Nightjets will offer customers a new travel experience. Thanks to this train the group says that it is entering a new era of night travel.
