Siemens: to build Germany's largest shore power system
(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens has been commissioned by the Port of Kiel to build Germany's largest shore power system to date, the industrial group said on Monday.
With a power of 16 megavolt amperes (MVA), the system will supply two ships simultaneously with eco-power, the conglomerate said, leading to an annual cut in CO2 emissions that exceeds 8,000 tonnes.
The system is expected to go into test operation in the 2020 cruise ship season, Siemens said.
