Siemens: completes Egypt mega power plant project
(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens said on Tuesday it has completed Egypt Megaproject, the world's largest combined-cycle power plant, in record time.
The German engineering group has delivered a total of 14.4 gigawatts of power-generation capacity to Egypt's national grid in only 27.5 months, it said.
This is enough to supply up to 40 million people, Siemens said.
The Egypt Megaproject comprises eight gas turbines, 4 steam turbines, 12 generators, 8 heat recovery steam generators, 12 transformers as well as a 500-kilovolt gas-insulated switchgear.
