Merck KGaA: towards renewed growth in 2024
(CercleFinance.com) - After a "transitional" year in 2023, the German chemicals and pharmaceuticals group Merck KGaA expects to return to growth next year, it announced at an investor day on Thursday.
Due to a "difficult" economic environment in the life sciences and electronics sectors, the company expects sales to be pretty flat this year.
Specifically, it anticipates sales of E20.5bn to E21.9bn this year, i.e. between -2% and +2% on an organic basis.
Over the MT, Merck still expects growth of 7% to 10% in its life sciences business, around 5% in pharmaceuticals and 3% to 6% in electronics.
All these announcements were warmly welcomed in Frankfurt, where the share was holding bronze medal on the podium in the DAX index on Thursday, up over 4%.
