Linde: completes merger with rival Praxair
(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday Germany's Linde completed its merger with US rival Praxair, creating a giant in industrial gases that has a market capitalisation of approximately 90 billion dollars (78 billion euros).
Linde shares will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange as from today. They already started trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on 29 October.
As part of the deal, Praxair shareholders received one Linde plc share for each Praxair share that they held. Prior to that, Linde shareholders received 1.54 Linde plc share for each Linde share.
Now that the combination has been completed, the companies will focus on finalising the divestitures required by the respective antitrust authorities, particularly in the United States.
Until the completion of the divestitures, Linde and Praxair will operate their businesses as separate and independent companies, they said.
