Linde: new request for FTC precision.
(CercleFinance.com) - In a presentation that was published yesterday evening, Linde and Praxair said that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the US consumer protection authority, has formulated a "late August" request for clarification from both the industrial gas giants, which intend to merge.
Both groups are currently responding to this request.
For the record, the German and American groups had initially notified the FTC about their planned merger in July.
In addition, the deal was pre-notified to the European Commission when competition regulators from South Korea, China and India were contacted in mid-August. Regulators from Brazil, Canada, Mexico and Russia are due to be contacted by mid-September. In all, 24 different authorities have been contacted.
