Continental: reveals lead reduction targets
(CercleFinance.com) - On Friday Continental unveiled a package of measures to reduce the lead content of some of its electronic components.
The German automotive component supplier states that it has submitted to the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate of the Lower Saxony region an action plan to enable it to post - with immediate effect - a use of lead that complies with the European end-of-life vehicle directive.
Conti has also taken a series of commitments that should eventually lead to a reduction in the lead content of its electronic components below the standards in force.
In its statement, the group said it decided to implement these initiatives after finding that the lead content of some of its components, such as capacitors, delivered since 2016 slightly exceeded the regulatory thresholds.
Continental says that it informed the authorities about this at the beginning of 2019.
Following these announcements the share was down 0.6% at 11 am on Monday morning in Frankfurt.
