BMW Group: to combine mobility services with Daimler
(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday BMW Group and Daimler signed an agreement to merge their existing on-demand mobility offering in the areas of carsharing, ride-hailing, parking, charging and multimodality.
Each company will hold a 50% stake in the joint-venture, comprising both companies' mobility services spanning from the mytaxi app to 143,000 charging points worldwide, the German carmakers said.
The joint venture's formation will trigger a one-time valuation and earnings impact for BMW, leading to a slight increase in 2018 pre-tax earnings at group level relative to the previous year.
