UBS: names two investment bank heads after executive leaves

(CercleFinance.com) - UBS has named Piero Novelli and Robert Karofsky as co-presidents of its strategic investment bank unit following Andrea Orcel's decision to take on the role as Santander Group's CEO.

Novelli, who formerly worked at Nomura and Merrill Lynch, will primarily focus on corporate client Solutions (CCS), while Karofsky - currently global head of equities - will focus on investor client services (ICS), UBS said.

They will both become members of UBS group's executive board.

Orcel - who had been in charge of the investment bank since 2012 - was named as Santander's next group chief executive officer on Tuesday, an appointment that is expected to be effective in early 2019.
