Nestlé: partners Enel in solar energy in US
(CercleFinance.com) - Nestlé announced on Wednesday that it is teaming up with Italian utility group Enel to invest in a solar project in Jackson County, Texas.
The Ganado solar power plant, which covers 600 hectares, the size of 850 football fields, is expected to contribute an additional 208 megawatts to the US power grid.
In addition to its investment, Nestlé plans to purchase 100% of the renewable energy produced at the site, which is expected to amount to some 333,000 megawatts per hour over the next 15 years.
The Swiss food company says the project will allow it to reduce its CO2 emissions in the US, where it sells DiGiorno pizza, Nesquik chocolate, Purina Pro Plan pet food and Tidy Cats cat litter.
