Roche: US FDA approves expanded use of Zika test
(CercleFinance.com) - US health regulators have approved an additional demand for Roche's cobas Zika test, allowing for streamlined screening of pooled blood or plasma donations, the Swiss company said on Monday.
The new claim follows the screening recommendations made last December by the Blood Products Advisory Committee (BPAC), an appointed group of key medical & scientific advisers to the FDA.
The cobas Zika test detects the virus and ensures that potentially infected blood is excluded from potential transfusion.
