(CercleFinance.com) - Novartis and Amgen have expanded their collaboration with Banner Alzheimer's Institute to initiate a new trial for the prevention of Alzheimer's disease, both companies said on Friday.
The partners will collaborate on a new study, assessing whether Novartis' investigational drug CNP520 can prevent or delay the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.
Novartis believes that preventing amyloid buildup is one of the most promising approaches for treating the disease.
Amyloid is a protein that accumulates in the brains of people with AD years before any clinical symptoms begin, the Swiss biopharmaceutical firm said.
