Bombardier: renews New York's JFK airport train deal

(CercleFinance.com) - Bombardier has renewed a contract to provide operations and maintenance services for the automated transit system at JFK airport in New York in a five-year deal valued at approximately 309 million dollars (277 million euros).


The transportation unit of the Canadian company has renewed its contract with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, continuing a 16-year deal.

The contract includes 24-hour train operations and passenger assistance; maintenance of the vehicle fleet; maintenance of the tracks and power supply and signalling systems; and maintenance of stations and platforms.

Bombardier has been operating and maintaining the system, that includes the fleet of 32 metro vehicles, since its opening in December 2003.

The system currently serves over 20 million passengers pear year.
