bpost: shares sink after CMD in Brussels

(CercleFinance.com) - bpost shares are down on Thursday after the Belgian postal company "redefined" its strategic priorities for 2022 at its capital markets day in Brussels.

The national postal deliverer, faced with falling mail volumes, said that it is seeking to restore top-line growth by reducing customer churn, increasing new business and cross-sales.

On the other hand, bpost plans to capture growth in the parcels and logistics markets in Europe and Asia.

At the meeting, the group said it expected normalised EBIT for 2018 to be in the "low end" of its 400-440 million euros guidance range.

Normalised EBIT for 2019 is also expected to be in the low end of the 390-440 million euro range, it added.

This corresponds to the scenario of a year-on-year fall in EBIT.

Its shares are currently down 4.7% at 14.5 euros on Euronext Brussels.
