Solvay: Pilot project in soda ash
(CercleFinance.com) - After nearly 30 years of fundamental research, Solvay has announced the launch of a pilot project in Dombasle, France, to validate a new advance in the implementation of a more sustainable process for the production of soda ash.
The Belgian chemical company has invested 40 million euros over several ecent years to develop the technology, which reduces CO2 emissions (by 50%), water, brine and limestone consumption, and completely eliminates limestone residues.
If the viability of the new production process is validated, Solvay intends to implement it progressively at its installations over the next 30 years, as part of its aim of becoming net zero, in addition to eliminating limestone residues.
