Solvay: will produce PEKK in the US.
(CercleFinance.com) - Solvay has announced that it will begin producing high-performance polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) polymers in the US from early next year to support its own composite materials business and meet growing demand in the aerospace industry.
PEKK is used in reinforced carbon fiber thermoplastic composites and additive manufacturing - also called 3D printing - in a wide range of industrial applications.
The Belgian chemical group says it will start production of PEKK at its site in Augusta, Georgia, under the brand name NovaSpire. Capacity will be available in the first quarter of 2018.
