Walmart: Q1 above estimates

(CercleFinance.com) - Walmart has published Q1 EPS that is down 28% at 72 cents, having mainly suffered from a loss of 47 cents per share on its investment in JD.
com, due to changes in accounting principles.

Adjusted for extraordinary items, the largest global retailer posted EPS that is up 14% at 1.14 dollar, beating the consensus by two cents, despite operating profit that is down 1.6% at 5.2 billion dollars.

Meanwhile, revenues increased 4.4% to 122.7 billion dollars (+2.7% excluding FX factors), including a 2.1% increase in sales at comparable stores for Walmart stores in the United States, with a 0.8% increase in traffic.
