Visa: new strategic agreement with Western Union
(CercleFinance.com) - Visa said that it has signed a new strategic agreement with Western Union, under which the world's largest money-transfer company will implement Visa's real-time payments platform Visa Direct.
Together, Visa and Western Union plan to provide real-time cross border payments to businesses and consumers in over 200 countries and in more than 130 currencies.
According to Visa, nearly 80 trillion dollars of money is sent via a wire transfer or bank accounts globally.
The annoucement comes after last month Visa announced the acquisition of Earthport, a company that provides cross-border payment services.
