Verizon: agreement with SES around C-band in US
(CercleFinance.com) - SES announces that it has reached an agreement with Verizon Communications to extend the US-based mobile operator's access to a portion of the C-band in certain regions of the US ahead of the US Federal Communication Commission (FCC) C-band deadlines.
SES has already completed its Phase I accelerated C-band release ahead of the FCC's first deadline of 5 December 2021, and is working to move its existing services from the 3700-4000 MHz band in line with the Phase II deadline of 5 December 2023.
The new agreement will enable SES to expand Verizon's access to the 3700-3800 MHz block in certain markets.
Under the agreement, SES will install filters and other ancillary equipment at approximately 500 sites in 2022 and receive a payment from Verizon of up to 170 million dollars, subject to delivery within the timeframe agreed by the parties.
SES shares are currently up almost 3.5% in Paris, while Verizon shares, after closing down 3% on Friday, are currently regaining a bit of lost ground - up about 1% in pre-market trading today..
