T-Mobile: launches call authentification service with AT&T

(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday AT&T and T-Mobile announced the launch of a common call authentication service to be deployed on each of their networks.


Both the two American operators explain that the service is intended to spare their mobile subscribers the inconvenience of "robocalls" - i.e. automated telephone calls with pre-recorded messages.

According to both groups, almost 48 billion calls of this type were made in the US last year, or about 150 calls per person per year.

The service has been approved by the FCC, the telecom sector regulator in the US.
