Philip Morris International: smoke-free product reduces risk

(CercleFinance.com) - Philip Morris International released on Friday what it called "encouraging results" from a study assessing the risk-reduction potential of smoke-free products in people who switch from cigarettes.


A new clinical study on IQOS, the company's most advanced smoke-free product, met its primary endpoint, demonstrating that after six months, eight measures of biological response improved in those who switched.

These clinical risk endpoints are related to diseases including heart and lung diseases, and biological mechanisms such as inflammation and stress, PMI said.

Compared to cigarettes, IQOS units contain an average of 90-95% lower levels of harmful constituents, Philip Morris said.
