Pfizer: recall of migraine medication in US

2 million boxes of the migraine medication Nurtec, marketed in the US, due to a packaging defect, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on Thursday.

In a notice, the CPSC recalls that prescription drugs must be offered in pharmaceutical packaging that is safe for children, in accordance with the US Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).

However, Nurtec's packaging is not child-resistant, posing a risk of poisoning if swallowed, the CPSC said, although no incidents have been reported to date.

The defective boxes were sold between 2021 and March 2023 in US pharmacies.
