Nike: raises quarterly dividend by 12%

(CercleFinance.com) - Nike, the world's biggest sports shoe and clothing maker, raised its quarterly cash dividend by 12% on Friday.

The company said it will now pay a quarterly dividend of 27.5 cents a share, higher than the 24.5 cents per share paid previously.

"This dividend increase reflects Nike's financial strength and strong track record of returning capital to shareholders while continuing to invest in capabilities that will accelerate our digital transformation and fuel long-term profitable growth," CEO John Donahoe said.

This is the company's 19th consecutive year of dividend increases.

The share was up about 0.5% on the New York Stock Exchange in early morning trading on Friday.
