Mondelez: acquires Clif Bar & Company

(CercleFinance.com) - Mondelez International announced on Monday evening that it had reached an agreement to acquire Clif Bar & Company, a maker of organic energy bars, for at least 2.
9 billion dollars.

The US food and beverage company said that the deal, which is set to be accompanied by additional payments based on the brand's performance, will enable it to reach the critical mass of 1 billion dollars in annual revenue from sweet bars.

The acquisition - which adds the Clif, Luna and Clif Kid brands to products such as Perfect Snacks in the US and Grenade in the UK - will enable it to reposition its portfolio over the long term.

Clif Bar & Company makes chocolate brownies, peanut butter and similar conectionary.
