Merck: two HIV-1 treatments get positive EU opinion

(CercleFinance.com) - Merck received a positive opinion from European regulators recommending that two treatments of HIV-1 infection be granted marketing authorisation, the US drugmaker said in a statement on Thursday.


Delstrigo, a once-daily fixed-dose combination tablet of doravirine, lamivudine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, and Pifeltro, a new non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor, to be administered in combination with other antiretroviral medicines, will now be reviewed by the European Commission for marketing authorisation in the European Union.

The US Food and Drug Administration already approved both medicines in August.

Merck said that marketing authorisation applications are also being reviewed in other countries, including Canada, Australia and Switzerland.
