Merck: new positive data for Keytruda

(CercleFinance.com) - The Merck stock is up 2% on Wall Street today, following the US pharmaceutical group's presentation of positive results from a study concerning its anti-cancer drug Keytruda in the first-line treatment of metastatic non-small squamous cell lung cancer.


In a pivotal phase III study, the combination of Keytruda-pemetrexed-chemotherapy significantly improved overall survival, halving the risk of death relative to chemotherapy alone.

These results, which were presented at the AACR conference and published in The New England Journal of Medicine, also showed a significant improvement in progression-free survival, with the risk of progression or death almost halved.
