J&J: $63m settlement for opioid crisis with Nevada

(CercleFinance.com) - Johnson & Johnson and its US-based Janssen pharmaceutical companies today announced a 63 million dollar settlement with the State of Nevada and its subdivisions to resolve lawsuits brought by the state in connection with the US opioid crisis.

The company says the settlement is consistent with the terms of the nationwide opioid settlement agreement, while also stating that it does not constitute an admission of liability or wrongdoing.

J&J maintains that the marketing and promotion of prescription opioid drugs was appropriate and responsible.

However, J&J has since stopped selling prescription opioid drugs in the US and is now focusing on transformational innovation to address unmet patient needs.
