GM: builds dedicated battery development facility

(CercleFinance.com) - GM today announced an investment in the Wallace Battery Cell Innovation Center, dedicated to next-generation batteries.


The new facility will help develop and market longer-range, lower-cost batteries for electric vehicles, GM said.

Currently under construction at GM's Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, the innovation centre is set to be completed in mid-2022, with the first battery cell prototypes to be built in Q4 2022.

GM says the site is designed to accommodate future expansion and grow with the demand for electric vehicles.
