GE: unveils Sierra, its new onshore wind turbine

(CercleFinance.com) - GE Renewable Energy today introduced Sierra, its newest onshore wind turbine platform designed specifically for North America.


The turbine delivers 3 to 3.4 MW and has a 140-meter rotor. Sierra also features two-piece blades, designed to improve logistics, installation and serviceability.

The company has received over 1 GW of orders for this turbine to date.

The Sierra platform was launched with two prototypes, one in Lubbock, Texas, and one in Kamataka, India, with over a year of successful running time on each.
