Ford: US sales fall 12.5% in first quarter

(CercleFinance.com) - Ford reported a 12.
5% fall in first-quarter sales in the United States, hurt by the coronavirus outbreak and the multiple state lockdown orders that this has prompted.

The number two US automaker behind GM said it sold 516,330 vehicles in the first three months of the year, compared with 590,249 a year earlier.

On the US truck market, where the company is a leader due to its F-Series line, Ford said pickup sales fell by 7.4% over the quarter.

Amid the coronavirus shutdown, its brand SUV retail sales fell even more steeply, down 12.7% in the quarter.

The Ford share was down slightly (-0.2%) on the New York Stock Exchange after these numbers.
