ExxonMobil: to cut up to 300 jobs in Canada to reduce costs

(CercleFinance.com) - ExxonMobil said that it plans to reduce its workforce in Canada by up to 300 positions as the US oil giant seeks to identify cost efficiencies and improve its long-term competitiveness.


The layoffs will take place by the end of 2021 across the company's businesses in Canada, which include Imperial Oil, ExxonMobil Canada and the ExxonMobil Business Centre Canada ULC corporate family, the group said.

The reductions will result from reorganizations and work-process changes made over the past few years, Exxon said.

In its statement, ExxonMobil said Canada remains an important market but that the impact of Covid-19 on demand has increased the urgency of efficiency measures.
